Points and miles, week of July 6, 2026

Amex drops Etihad transfers, HeyMax devalues Accor, and Turkish business class to Istanbul opens wide. Plus four transfer bonuses, including new Virgin Atlantic and EVA Air offers.

Two meaningful devaluations hit this week, closing out a couple of redemption paths while opening a tight window for last-minute transfers. Transfer bonuses continue to flow, with both expiring-soon and fresh offers on premium airline partners. And a strong business-class availability alert emerged for August travel.

Devaluations this week

Amex Membership Rewards is ending transfers to Etihad Guest effective June 30, 2026. This affects anyone holding Amex points who was banking on routing redemptions through Etihad. The last day to move points is June 29. This is a clean break from the program, so there's no gradual revaluation to work with.

HeyMax is devaluing Accor Live Limitless transfers from 1:1 to 3:2 effective July 1, 2026. This cuts the effective value per Max Mile from roughly 3 cents to 2 cents on Accor transfers. Members had until June 30 to lock in the old rate. If you hold HeyMax miles and were planning Accor redemptions, this one already went into effect.

Transfer bonuses

Chase Ultimate Rewards to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club: 30% bonus, expires July 14. This is the highest urgency expiring-soon offer. Virgin Atlantic is a strong Oneworld connector, and the post-bonus ratio of 1:1.3 makes premium-cabin redemptions more efficient.

Citi ThankYou Points to Accor Live Limitless: 50% bonus, expires July 18. This bonus arrives as HeyMax devalues its own Accor transfers, making Citi's path a viable alternative for Accor hotel redemptions. The 50% premium is substantial, pushing the ratio to 1:1.5 after the bonus clears.

Amex Membership Rewards to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club: 30% bonus, expires July 31. A fresh offer with a longer window. Same 1:1.3 post-bonus ratio as the Chase bonus, so this gives Amex holders a parallel opportunity to top up Virgin Atlantic before the rate expires.

Capital One Miles to EVA Air: 30% bonus, expires July 31. This is a new partnership bonus for Capital One. EVA Air is a premium carrier with strong North Asia and transatlantic service, so the 30% premium (1:1.3 post-bonus) opens up efficiency on premium redemptions from North America to Asia.

Award availability this week

Turkish Miles&Smiles business class to Istanbul is wide open from 18 North American gateways on August 16. New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Toronto are all showing availability, with most priced at 135,000 miles per person. This is a strong transatlantic business-class value. The snapshot was current as of July 2, so checking soon is wise.
