Wyndham Rewards adds 45,000-point tier, top hotels jump from 30,000 points

Wyndham Rewards is restructuring its award chart effective September 15, 2026, moving from a 3-tier system (7,500, 15,000, 30,000 points) to a 4-tier system (5,000, 15,000, 30,000, 45,000 points). The new 45,000-point tier will apply to premium properties, including Wyndham Grand Cancun All Inclusive, Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lords Castle, and Wyndham Grand Rio Mar in Puerto Rico.

Wyndham Rewards is restructuring its redemption tiers on September 15, 2026, adding a new premium tier that raises the cost of its best properties.

What's changing

The current three-tier system (5,000, 15,000, 30,000 points per night) becomes a four-tier system, adding a 45,000-point top bracket. Premium all-inclusive resorts like Wyndham Grand Cancun, Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lords Castle, and Wyndham Grand Rio Mar in Puerto Rico will move from 30,000 points to 45,000 points. Some properties currently priced at 7,500 points will shift up to 15,000 points, though the lowest tier drops from 7,500 to 5,000 points (per View from the Wing).

Who this hits

The new 45,000-point tier makes those premium properties mathematically harder to justify for cardholders earning bonus categories at standard rates. The timing is notable given that Wyndham unveiled new co-branded credit cards just one week before this announcement. The program's value proposition has narrowed substantially: the Vacasa short-term rental redemption, which used to offer per-bedroom pricing flexibility, has already been removed. Combined with this chart restructure, the program now requires 50% more points for the best properties than it did a decade ago.

What to do

Members can still book before the September 15 cutover to preserve current pricing, and Wyndham honors existing reservations at their original point cost. If you have an upcoming stay at a property you know will move into the 45,000-point tier, booking before mid-September locks the lower rate.
