The short answer
Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa is a Category 7 Hyatt property today. Hyatt's chart restructure cuts over at 8:00 AM CT on May 20, 2026, and most coverage places this property in the new 5-tier Category 8 post-cutover (only OnPointsWithKids explicitly names it, so the category placement isn't fully confirmed for Hadahaa specifically). Today's pricing on the 3-tier Cat 7 chart: 25,000 points off-peak, 30K standard, 35K peak. Post-cutover the floor rises to at least 35K/night, with the new Cat 8 ceiling at 75K under the 5-tier system (35K Lowest / 45K Low / 55K Moderate / 65K Upper / 75K Top) if that placement holds. Reservations made before May 20 keep today's pricing even if the stay itself is later in 2026, so the booking-date-locks-pricing strategy is the play. Standard overwater villa rates often clear $1,800/night, which pushes even a current Cat 7 Peak award over 5 cents per point.
How to book
- 1Go to hyatt.com/park-hyatt/mldph-park-hyatt-maldives-hadahaa or search "Park Hyatt Maldives" on hyatt.com.
- 2Filter by point availability. Watch the price tier column. Lowest and Low dates are concentrated in shoulder months (April-May, late-September).
- 3Transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards to World of Hyatt 1:1. Transfers are instant.
- 4Book on hyatt.com or the World of Hyatt app. Free cancellation per the cash rate window (usually 48 hrs before arrival).
What can go wrong
- Overwater villas price higher than the base award. The 25K-35K (today) and 35K-75K (post-May 20) ranges are for the base room category. Overwater villas add a point premium; check the rate grid for your specific room.
- Seaplane transfer is separate. You pay cash (~$650 round trip) for the seaplane between Malé and Hadahaa. Points don't cover it.
- Post-cutover ceiling rises sharply. If Hadahaa lands in Cat 8 (the most-likely outcome per current coverage), top-tier dates clear 75K/night after May 20. Even if it stays Cat 7 under the new 5-tier system, top dates still climb from 35K to 55K. The pre-cutover booking window (now through May 19) is the last chance to lock today's rates for any 2026 stay.
- Chase UR and Bilt only. Same constraint as every Hyatt redemption: no Amex, Citi, or Capital One route exists.
- High-cash-value redemptions still need trip protection. Chase Sapphire Reserve carries built-in trip-cancellation coverage but the per-trip cap sits at $10,000 per person (Chase Sapphire Reserve benefits guide). A 7-night Hadahaa stay at $717-$1,800/night cash equivalent runs $5,000-$12,600, and a longer overwater villa stay can clear the cap on a single booking. CSR's emergency-medical reimbursement caps at $2,500, which an evacuation from a remote Maldivian seaplane-only resort would dwarf. Firsthand note
Captured 2026-05-17, three days before the May 20 chart cutover. Searched hyatt.com for Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa on 2026-09-15 to 2026-09-18 (3 nights, shoulder season). The property card returned 25,000 Points/Night at the entry tier with the cash rate showing $717 Avg/Night. That's ~2.87 cpp at the base award rate; peak-season dates with $1,500+ cash rates clear 6+ cpp on the same chart. The "Award Category 7" badge was still visible on the property card today, confirming hyatt.com is serving the pre-cutover 3-tier chart (25K off-peak / 30K standard / 35K peak) for any booking initiated today, regardless of stay date. The booking-date-locks-pricing strategy is the operative play: any reservation made by 8:00 AM CT on May 19 keeps today's 3-tier Cat 7 pricing for the full stay. Wait past the cutover and the price floor rises to at least 35K/night even if Hadahaa stays Cat 7 under the new 5-tier system, with the Cat 8 ceiling at 75K if it ends up in that band.
